LAHORE: The Lahore High Court on Monday sought replies by January 26 from the provincial government on a petition challenging the Punjab Criminal Prosecution Service (Amended) Act 2016.
Petitioner Muzaffar Anjum contends the government amended sections 5, 17 and 20 of the prosecution act transferring powers of prosecutor general to the prosecution secretary.
The amendment made in the law amounted to undermining the prosecution department’s independence. He requested the court to strike down the impugned amendments in the Prosecution Act.
