LAHORE: Two workers at a food factory were injured when the roof of the building collapsed in Shadbagh on Monday. The accident took place at about 8:50am near China Scheme Road, Bhagatpura.

A witness in the neighbourhood said he heard a loud noise followed by screams when he was about to leave for work in the morning. The neighbours rushed to the site and called the rescue teams. The rescuers shifted two victims to Mayo Hospital.

They were identified as Aqeel Rafiq and Shafique Karam Din. The building was declared ‘clear’ after the search operation that continued for over two hours. Initial investigation suggests the accident occurred due to a cylinder blast. Police suspect the building was in a dilapidated condition.
