The TMA workers gathered in front of the Bank of Punjab and blocked the main road for vehicular traffic. The protesters were carrying banners inscribed with slogans in favour of their demands. On the occasion, the protesters told journalists that the TMA higher officials had made it a habit to delay the salaries of the workers and lower staff.
They said the employees were never paid on time and instead their salaries were delayed for two to three months. They maintained it had become difficult for them to make ends meet that had affected their routine life.
The protesters also accused the Bank of Punjab staff of using delaying tactics in transferring their salaries. They said the bank staff does not transfer their salaries intentionally and deliberately just to make the poor workers suffer.
They also threatened to go on indefinite strike and to stop cleanliness work in the district if their salaries were not transferred immediately.
