Revelry watch: 2,100 personnel to perform duties on new year’s eve

Police commandos will be deployed at different points

ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad police have made an elaborate security plan for New Year’s Eve in the city and decided to deploy 2,100 personnel to ensure foolproof security and keep a vigilant eye on various celebrations.

On the special instructions of Inspector General of Police Islamabad Tariq Masood Yasin, Islamabad SSP Mir Vais Niaz and Traffic SSP Malik Matloob devised a security and traffic plan which includes deputing police contingents at important sites, shopping centres, and main markets to maintain order during the night.

Police commandos will be deployed at different points, while ASPs, DSPs, and inspectors would patrol the city.

In all, 1500 police including Rangers personnel will be on duty to secure the city.
