LAHORE:

The Managing Director (MD) of the National Police Foundation (NPF) has once again summoned PML-N legislator Anjum Aqeel Khan to explain the latest misappropriations to surface in the allotment of the foundation’s land.

Former MD NPF Khawaja Khalid Farooq allotted 35 plots in addition to the 11 whose allotment was cancelled last week by the current MD NPF Zafar Ahmad Qureshi, revealed the foundation’s record. The MD said that the 11 plots would be allotted to the families of martyred police officers through balloting.

MD Zafar Qureshi has called a meeting of the board of directors to review the case of the remaining 35 plots allotted by the former MD by exercising his discretionary powers.

A land scam in the NPF was recently unearthed in which Anjum Aqeel Khan was made to surrender assets worth Rs5.8 billion. Director Housing NPF Shahid Iqbal has provided further evidence to the inquiry team implicating the MNA. A six-member inquiry committee headed by MD Zafar Qureshi recorded the statements of former managing director NPF Iftikhar Ahmad, former director housing Laeeq Ahmad, former additional directors Sheikh Abdul Hannan, Khuda Bakhsh and Director Housing Shahid Iqbal for their involvement in the scam.

To clear up various ambiguities which cropped up during the inquiry, former NPF officials allegedly involved in allotting land to Anjum Aqeel Khan, have one week to submit their replies.

MNA Anjum Aqeel Khan told The Express Tribune that he has already presented an affidavit affirming his willingness to return illegally acquired land to the NPF. If other liabilities surface against him, he is ready to settle them amicably with the management of NPF.

karim ali | 13 years ago | Reply it is common knowledge that Anjum Khan's compex at KHUDADAD HEIGHTS, E11 ISLAMABAD also involves over 7 BILLION rupees which were taken from people ( 7 million Rs each). Thousands of people paid in 2002 and 2003 to buy apartments to LANDLINKERS, Anjum's company. It is 10 years now and project not finshed. Where has people's money gone? Is 5.8 BILLION Rs for land on which these apartments were built in E11? We see little work done inside when we go past each day to work
