LAHORE: A teenager has gone to court seeking protection from an ‘influential land grabber’ allegedly for trying to forcibly marry her. An additional district and sessions judge has sought comments from the Baghbanpura SHO on the compliance petition against the man. The petitioner, 13, stated Shamsher Khan, 60, frequently visited her house along with his henchmen to force her family to arrange his wedding with her. The suspect threatened her family with death if they did not oblige. When the SHO was directed to record her statement, he did not entertain her. She alleged Shamsher was a land grabber and enjoyed considerable influence and police were not willing to take action against him.
