Islamabad muggings

Letter December 30, 2016
The authorities need to take major steps against criminals

ISLAMABAD: Islamabad’s residents are becoming acquainted with a new problem. Though prevalent in other areas of Pakistan from before, mobile snatching is increasing. Gangs of teenage boys armed with pistols operate in various parts of the city from early evening until late night. These criminals snatch mobile sets, handbags, watches and whatever they can find on their victims. Upon resistance, the gangsters do not hesitate to fire at passersby.

Growing incidents of cell phone muggings are quite alarming. Surprisingly unpleasant, no recoveries have been mentioned in the report presented by the CPLC. This shows that the authorities have failed in guiding residents to use IMEI number for the recovery of their stolen valuables. The authorities need to take major steps against criminals and should provide safety to each citizen.
