QUETTA: The Balochistan government is preparing to mount a two-week campaign against spurious drugs across the province. The decision was taken in a meeting of the Quality Control Authority held in Quetta with Additional Secretary Health Rauf Baloch. Official sources said that the government has decided to take strict legal action against those selling spurious drugs in the province and to spearhead the campaign, drug inspectors would be assigned all over the province.  The drug inspectors were directed to conduct raids at all the chemists’ shops and drug stores where the spurious or sub-standard medicines were being sold. On the directive of the chief minister, the campaign has been intensified and raiding parties have already framed around 95 cases of spurious and substandard medicine or fake drugs.  All the criminal cases will be referred to the drug court for prosecution and giving deterrent punishment to the culprits involved.
