Highway tragedy: Five people killed, 10 injured as bus overturns
Passengers were en route to Karachi from Vehari

Five people were killed and more than 10 others were injured when a Karachi-bound passenger coach overturned on the National Highway near Sangi, some 20 kilometres away from Sukkur, on Tuesday night.
The bus was en route to Karachi from Vehari in Punjab. When it neared Sangi, the driver lost control of the speeding vehicle and the it overturned. As a result, five passengers, including women, were killed on the spot while more than 10 others were injured.
Local police and Edhi officials rushed to the scene and shifted the bodies and the injured to a taluka hospital in Pano Akil. The deceased were identified as Muhammad Madani, Shamim Khatoon, Mukhtiar Khatoon, Rashida Perveen and Saira Bibi while Irshad Ahmed, Shabbir Ahmed, Tariq, Sajjad, Mohammad Shahbaz, Ghulam Abbas and Irfan were among the injured.
According to Edhi officials, the bodies of the deceased were sent to their home towns of Melsi, Taranda Mohammad Pannah, Rahim Yar Khan and Vehari. The body of the coach’s conductor, Muhammad Madni, was sent to Melsi. The driver of the coach managed to flee the scene but the police have impounded the coach.
