Shabqadar operation: Security men nab top militant, 34 others

The combing operation was carried out jointly by police and army

SHABQADAR: Security forces on Tuesday rounded up around 35 suspects and seized a huge cache of arms and ammunition during a combing operation in the Sro Kali area of Shabqadar in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa’s Charsadda tehsil.

According to Shabqadar’s sub-divisional police official Muhammad Fayaz Khan, the combing operation was carried out jointly by police and army troops.

“During the operation 35 suspects were rounded up. They have been moved to an undisclosed location for interrogation,” he said.

The forces also recovered arms and ammunition from the suspects. The items confiscated during the raid include a Kalashnikov, an SMG, guns, five repeaters, pistols and more than 300 rounds of bullets.

In Tangi Charsadda area, the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) also arrested Liquat Ali, a local commander of a banned organisation and shifted him to undisclosed location for interrogation.
