HIV/AIDS treatment: Authorities deny shortage of medicines
The Punjab AIDS Control Programme is providing free treatment to patients in contrast to alleged statement
LAHORE:
There is no shortage of anti-retroviral (ARV) medicines at HIV treatment centres across the province, claimed Punjab Primary and Secondary Health spokesman on Monday.
Transgenders seek access to HIV/Aids treatment
“The alleged reports of shortage of ARV medicines are completely baseless. There is ample stock of ARV medicines available at treatment facilities and adequate buffer stock is also maintained by the Punjab AIDS Control Programme,” he said. He added anti-retroviral drugs are administered to HIV/AIDS patients to prevent replication of the virus and improve the working of the immune system.
The Punjab AIDS Control Programme is providing free treatment to patients and the programme maintains a vigorous system of inventory and stock management, he said.
Partying to raise awareness about HIV/AIDS
In case of any query, the programme officials can be contacted at 7-B Huma Block Allama Iqbal Town. They can also be reached at 042 99260292-3 or via email at admin@pacp.gop.pk.
