President appeals to nation to pray for rain

He asked the Ulema to lead the prayers across the country and pray to the Almighty for a rain of blessing

ISLAMABAD:
President Mamnoon Hussain made an appeal to the nation to seek Allah’s blessing and hold countrywide special prayers for rain on Monday. He asked the Ulema to lead the prayers across the country and pray to the Almighty for a rain of blessing, so as to end the drought.

Heavy rainfall continues to lash Lahore

Pakistan received considerably below average rainfall during July and August this year, the director-general of the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) told The Express Tribune.


Dr Ghulam Rasul, director-general of the Met Office, said: “We all need to stay alert, because of the erratic nature of the monsoon.”

Life came to standstill after heavy rain spell

Citing data compiled by his department, he said that during the month of July, Pakistan received 13 per cent below average rainfall, while in August the country received seven to eight per cent below average rainfall.
