Assumed office of DG ISPR, says Maj-Gen Asif Ghafoor in first tweet

Maj-Gen Ghafoor was chosen to lead military's media wing on Dec 15 following the appointment of new army chief

Maj-Gen Asif Ghafoor assumed command as the Director General (DG) Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) on Saturday.

"Allah be praised! Assumed office of DG ISPR Thanks Lt-Gen Asim Bajwa for contributions Pakistan Armed Forces Zindabad Pakistan Paindabad," he said in his first tweet since his appointment on the position.



Maj-Gen Ghafoor was chosen to lead the media wing of the armed forces on December 15 after a reshuffle in the ranks following the appointment of General Qamar Javed Bajwa as Chief of Army Staff (COAS).

Meanwhile, Lt-Gen Asim Bajwa, the new Inspector General Arms at General Headquarters (GHQ), Rawalpindi tweeted. "Proudly represented armed forces as DG ISPR for 4 years and 7 months amidst our fight against terror, an eventful time. Great journey for Pakistan."



Lt-Gen Bajwa continued, "We are [the] best nation with invincible armed forces, world recognising. Thanks all especially media for unwavering support. Best of luck Maj Gen Asif Ghafoor."



The new DG ISPR has a vast experience of operations, commanded unit in operation Almizan, served in military operations directorate and remained involved in the finalisation of National Action Plan (NAP).

On November 29, Gen Qamar Bajwa had assumed command of Pakistan Army in a ceremony wherein he was passed the baton of command by Gen Raheel Sharif.
