The operation was conducted on the directions of District Coordinate officer Nadir Chatha while Food Authority Secretary Kashif Dogar and Deputy Director Ejaz supervised it.
While taking notice of unhygienic environment, the DCO sealed two shops and sent fish samples to the laboratory for testing.
In addition, the officials raided shops in Kotla Tolay Road and fined several fish sellers. Besides, they also instructed the shopkeepers to maintain cleanliness and hygiene.
Meanwhile, Kashif Dogar told The Express Tribune that fish sellers would not be given any favour and strict action will be taken against those found involved in such practice.
He maintained, “Rotten fish, which is prepared in contaminated spice and low quality oil, is not fit for human consumption.”
