The case will now be heard in a sessions court, where it will be taken up as a ‘regular’ murder case. Shalimar police had booked Arshad Mehmood, Noman Khokhar and at least eight others after Malik was gunned down in F-10/3 near Shalimar Police Station in the early hours of August 15. The complainant, Tariq Ayub - Malik’s uncle, had also been injured in the attack. Anti-Terror Act Section 7 was later added to the FIR.
However, Mehmood, Khokhar and another suspect Hashim Khan, had challenged the inclusion of the anti-terror sections in the FIR against them before an ATC.
