Discarded opener Ahmad Shahzad has been slapped with a fine of Rs20,000 after he questioned an umpiring decision during his team HBL's One Day Cup Departments 2016-17 match against SNGPL at the National Stadium of Karachi.

Match referee Aneesur Rehman gave the verdict against him after the umpires reported the incident at the end of the match played on Monday.

While batting on 70, Shehzad who is captaining Habib Bank in the tournament, was adjudged lbw against SNGPL on the bowling of Pakistan all-rounder Mohammad Hafeez .

From Zayn to Nusrat: Ahmed Shehzad spills beans on his favourites

Shehzad stared at the umpire and gestured that the ball had pitched outside leg-stump after the umpire had raised his finger following a vociferous appeal by Hafeez and SNGPL wicket-keeper.

A video though seems to negate Shehzad’s outrage, with the ball appearing to pitch in line with the leg-stump and the impact too looked with in the stumps as Shehzad squared up in his attempt of defending the ball, which missed his bat and struck him in front of the middle-stump.

Shehzad was axed from the national team after a negative report about his attitude surfaced following Pakistan’s disastrous WorldT20 campaign last March.
