Name on ECL: Ayyan appeals for early case hearing

Says she has to travel to Dubai to fulfil work commitment

ISLAMABAD: Supermodel Ayyan Ali has approached the Supreme Court regarding the hearing of her plea to remove her name from the Exit Control List (ECL) on December 22.

The applicant states that she is undergoing hardships because of her name on the ECL despite the court’s order for its removal.

Ayyan claimed that the delay in the hearing of the case was a conspiracy to detain her in the country.

Ayyan said that she had to travel to Dubai for work and if she fails to comply by her contract she will have to pay $10 million to the company.



She contended that her movement cannot be curtailed and on account of the omission and actions of the respondents (interior ministry and others) the matter is being delayed and is ‘ridiculing’ the court by not implementing its orders.

Ayyan’s counsel Latif Khosa requested the court to take up the matter by December 22.

Illegal transfer

In a separate case, the apex court has directed the Punjab government to file a report on illegally transferring of 1,200 kanals of government land by the assistant district collector in Kasur.

A two-judge bench was hearing the bail applications of 19 accused including illegal occupants and revenue department officials.

It ordered the officials to submit the revenue record of 1,200 kanals, grabbed by close relatives of Amir Aqiq Manj.

Manj’s counsel contended before the court that his client was not involved.

The court after hearing the arguments directed the authorities to submit the revenue record within one week.
