Batsman makes 120 to guide side to 98-run win over NBP

KARACHI:
A century by Kamran Akmal steered WAPDA to their first win in the National One-Day Cup for departments as they defeated NBP by 98 runs at the Arbab Niaz Stadium in Hyderabad on Monday.

Asked to bat first, WAPDA posted a total of 285 runs as Akmal made 120 off 117 balls hitting 13 fours and a six, while Salman Butt and Ayaz Tasawar scored 47 and 43 runs respectively.

NBP's Muhammad Irfan took three wickets.

Chasing 286, NBP were restricted to 187 as WAPDA’s Muhammad Irfan took four wickets while Khalid Usman claimed three wickets.

Usman Salahuddin (49) was the highest scorer.


In the other match, an unbeaten 146-run partnership between Shoaib Ahmed and Abdur Rehman guided KRL to an eight-wicket win over UBL.

Asked to bat first, UBL were restricted to 152 as Sadaf Hussain took three wickets. UBL's Saeed Bin Nasir (52) was the highest scorer.

Chasing 153, KRL’s Ahmed and Rehman built a 146-run unbeaten partnership to help their side reach 155 in 31.5 overs. Ahmed struck 13 fours to his 90-ball 80 runs with Rehman scoring 60 off 81 balls hitting six four and two sixes.

At National Stadium of Karachi, four wickets by Imran Khalid guided SNGPL to their second victory as they defeated HBL by six wickets. Asked to bat first, HBL were dismissed on 193 as Khalid took four wickets. In reply, SNGPL reached the target in 42.4 overs as Imran Butt scored 70 runs.

Meanwhile at the SBP Sports Complex in Karachi, SSGC won their second match defeating PIA by seven wickets.
