PESHAWAR: Rejecting the report compiled by the Committee on FATA Reforms 2016, JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rahman on Sunday opposed the merger of Fata with K-P.

He said that the people of Fata were not in a position to decide their future. He was addressing party workers at Tehmash Khan Stadium, Peshawar during Fata Peace Conference.

Maulana Fazl said that the report proposed merger instead of introducing reforms in Frontier Crimes Regulations law.

He criticised Advisor to Prime Minister Sartaj Aziz for claiming in his report that the people of Fata were in favour of the merger. He said that the committee was trying to escape from referendum.

Meanwhile, the alliance of all major political parties, including PPP, ANP, JI, PTI and others, staged a rally at Mohmand and Bajaur agencies, against the Frontier Crimes Regulations, demanding the merger of KP into Fata.
