Emergency services: Sahiwal rescue officials received 21,297 calls in 2016

He appealed to the people to refrain from making irrelevant calls as it hampers rescue services

MULTAN: Rescue 1122 officials received 21,297 calls regarding different emergency situations during the current year in Sahiwal.

This was said by District Emergency Officer Dr Abdullah while giving a briefing about the emergency calls in 2016.

He said Rescue 1122 officials responded to 2,012 calls and of them, 687 were about the incidents of road accidents, 1,013 were about the medical emergencies and 27 were related to the fire incidents. Moreover, 87 were crime calls while 197 calls related to other incidents.

He added the daily call average of Rescue 1122 was 67 and response time average was seven minutes. He maintained that during November, Rescue 1122 workers rescued 2,279 people and shifted them to different hospitals.



He said first aid was given to 49 people on the spot. However, he pointed out the approximate number of fatalities in different accidents was 72.

He said Rescue 1122 officials responded to the calls according to average response time. He further said at least 15,218 irrelevant calls were also received by the department.

He appealed to the people to refrain from making irrelevant calls as it hampers rescue services.  He said 1122 is an emergency number and to make fake calls on the number could result in a loss of life.
