The footage which caused a stir on social media and sparked debate whether the phone which exploded was a Samsung Galaxy Note 7, showed the singer talking on his phone in his studio. The phone then suddenly exploded while pressed against Green's ear and he fell off his chair and lay motionless on the floor. The video ends there.

However, it has now appeared the video was part of Green’s upcoming project.
"I just want to let everybody know that I am alive, and I'm well and I'm OK," CeeLo said in a Facebook video. "Truthfully, I'm really upset that anybody had to be emotionally disturbed by what they saw today. Actually, what you saw today was a clip from a smaller video that we were shooting for a new project I'm doing called Gnarly Davidson. It's supposed to set up and introduce the new character identity, you know what I'm saying?" he added.
Here's how Twitter reacted to the video:

That Ceelo footage can't be real. It slowly fades to static at the end. That choice tells me it's fake AF. #CeeLo #Samsung
