As the year draws to a close, Google has released a list of most popular games of 2016.

And unsurprisingly, Niantic’s Pokémon GO, the augmented reality game which took the internet by storm when it was launched in July has topped the list.

Here are the top android games of 2016.

Pokémon GO

Augmented reality game Pokémon GO uses overlaying graphics to get people catch cute cartoon creatures in their vicinity using phone cameras.



The game has been downloaded between 100 million to 500 million times approximately to date.

Clash Royale

Clash Royale is a real-time multiplayer strategy game developed and published by Supercell. The game combines elements from collectible card games, tower defence and multiplayer online battle arena.



Clash Royale, which was released globally on March 2, 2016 is a follow-up version of the extremely popular mobile game Clash of Clans.

Traffic Rider

Traffic Rider is a first person motorbike racing game developed by Sonar Kara. In this game, users ride a bike on endless highway roads overtaking the traffic. In career mode, players are required to complete different missions to unlock new bikes. Users can also elect to play in the “Endless” or “Time Trial” modes.



The game, which has a 4.7 star rating on Google Play Store, has so far been downloaded over 50 million times.

Slither.io is a modern take on classic arcade game Snake, made famous by feature phones, especially Nokia.



The ultimate goal of the game is to become the longest player. Users can choose to compete against other online players or artificial intelligence.

Dream Soccer League is arguably the best soccer game ever to hit mobile phones.
