KARACHI:
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) are willing to play a series with each other but the governments of the respective countries are not allowing them to hold any talks, revealed PCB Chairman Shaharyar Khan on Wednesday.

“BCCI is ready to play a bilateral series with Pakistan but they say that their hands are tied as the government terminates any possibility of cricket between the neighbouring countries,” said Shaharyar, who was addressing a media briefing at the SBP Stadium in Karachi.

He added that the PCB’s legal advisors are analysing the situation and the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between the two boards. “Although the MoU has no legal value internationally, the advisors are looking into the matter and will take the appropriate action against India soon,” said Shahryar.

‘Women’s team results not satisfactory’

Talking about the women’s team’s recent results, Shaharyar said that he was not satisfied and proposed bringing some changes to the management and the coaching panel.

We are 'not begging' BCCI for bilateral series, says Shaharyar

“There is no talent coming up in women’s cricket while the players currently in the team have been present since a long time. New players must come in to breathe new life in the team,” he said. “We are thinking about making changes to the management and will see what needs to be done.”

‘Action  will be taken against Wahab, Yasir'

Commenting on the scuffle between Wahab Riaz and Yasir Shah, Shaharyar said he was unaware of the incident but added that if anything had happened between the players, it won’t be ignored.

“Doesn’t matter if it was Wahab or Yasir; if they have done something wrong then action will be taken against them,” he said. “No one is allowed to breach disciplinary guidelines.”

He further added, “This is the only team I have seen with a great relationship between the players and I don’t expect them to fight. However, it that has happened then action would be taken against them.”
