Mountain day: Youngsters clean up Margalla Hills
The event was held to mark the International Mountain Day, by the Development Communications Network
Over 150 students from different universities walked through trail-5 on Margalla Hills on Sunday picking up litter and cleaning the trail. The event, part of the sixth Pakistan Mountain Festival, was held to mark the International Mountain Day, by the Development Communications Network (Devcom-Pakistan). The students collected waste littering the hillside including plastic bottles, wrappers, tins, shopping bags and food-packing. One of the participants, Riffat Ara Baig said the cleanliness drive was a good initiative but it would be better if visitors avoid polluting the mountains. The city managers shall have a surveillance system and the people should be fined for polluting the National Park. Zeeshan Shah, the Deputy Mayor, Metropolitan Corporation of Islamabad, said the MCI would come up to the expectations of citizens in making the capital cleaner and greener.
