Netball: Pakistan bag silver medal

Lose 34-35 to hosts Malaysia in hard-fought final of 1st Asian Men’s Netball Championship

KARACHI: Pakistan netball team bagged a silver medal after losing 34-35 to hosts Malaysia in the hard-fought final of the 1st Asian Men’s Netball Championship at the Dewan Serbaguna Complex Kuarters on Sunday.

The visitors, who had won all four of their league matches en route to the final, started brightly and led 11-6 at the end of the first quarter.

But Malaysia came storming back in the second period, outscoring Pakistan 10-5 to level the tie at 16-all.

The home team came out on top in the penultimate quarter as well, scoring 10 against Pakistan's eight as Malaysia got their noses in front 26-24.

Pakistan erased the two-goal deficit in the final period to force extra time, where unfortunately, Malaysia found the championship-winning goal.

Elsewhere, India defeated Brunei 61-23 to win bronze.
