The visitors, who had won all four of their league matches en route to the final, started brightly and led 11-6 at the end of the first quarter.
But Malaysia came storming back in the second period, outscoring Pakistan 10-5 to level the tie at 16-all.

The home team came out on top in the penultimate quarter as well, scoring 10 against Pakistan's eight as Malaysia got their noses in front 26-24.
Pakistan erased the two-goal deficit in the final period to force extra time, where unfortunately, Malaysia found the championship-winning goal.

Elsewhere, India defeated Brunei 61-23 to win bronze.
