KESC spokesman Amir Abbasi said that the duration of the power outages has not been increased. “The load-shedding cycle has been changed because of the new rotational cycle of 275 feeders,” he said. “The gas supply is now 100 MMCFD so there is zero load-shedding in the industrial areas,” he added.
According to Abbasi, the schedule is rotated every three months according to company policy.
Electricity used to be suspended in certain areas between 12 pm to 1:30 pm, for example, which has been moved up to earlier.
The minimum duration of load-shedding is three hours while the maximum is four-and-a-half hours.
