competition: Clean poultry meat shops rewarded

The authority would implement a similar model in other markets

LAHORE: The Punjab Food Authority distributed cash prizes among winners of a cleanliness competition held at the biggest poultry market of the town, Tollinton Market, on Saturday. Provincial Food Minister Bilal Yasin, PFA Director General Noorul Amin Mengal along with food safety officers and trading community leaders, inspected hygiene and cleanliness arrangements of various poultry shops in the market. He appreciated poultry traders for improving hygiene and sanitation conditions and praised PFA officials for helping traders in improving sanitation conditions. Yasin also announced Rs25,000 cash award for PFA Food Safety Officer Tahira for her outstanding performance. He said the objective of the provincial food authority was to ensure availability of good and hygienic food products to common man. The authority would award Rs50,000 cash prize each to five shopkeepers for showing better cleanliness at their premises. He announced the authority would establish its office in Tollinton Market for continuation of this exercise. Every month, Food Department would announce ‘Shop of the Month’ to appreciate the shopkeepers. The authority would implement a similar model in other markets of Lahore and other districts of the province.
