Khan will soon be seen in the role of a bootlegger in Raees, with Nawazuddin Siddiqui playing a cop. Speaking about his co-star, the actor said, “When good artists work together, it makes everyone emotional. I always say that a star comes in the poster and takes all the credit but actors like Nawazuddin make us look best on the screen.”
The Dilwale actor – whose character in Raees has grey shades – says he tries not to repeat his roles. “I try not to be like Anjaam or Darr. If it is all the same genre, then there is no point. I think our director Rahul Dholakia has written the character beautifully,” stated Khan. “I believe you should not justify a bad man as a character. I think he is a bad man but he has a good heart. No matter where you reach in your life, as long as you take responsibilities for your actions, God will forgive you,” he added.
Set in a Gujrat of the 1980s, Raees tells the story of a bootlegger whose business is thwarted by a tough policeman. The film is co-produced by Excel Entertainment and Red Chilies Entertainment and also marks the Bollywood debut of Pakistani actor Mahira Khan.
Raees is slated to release on January 26 next year, alongside Hrithik Roshan’s Kaabil. “We decided the dates a long time back and made the decision as soon as we came to know that both the films are coming together,” said Khan, explaining the clash.
