Havelian plane crash: Condolences pour in for victims
Separate resolutions submitted in Punjab Assembly and LHCBA
LAHORE:
People hailing from different circles paid homage to the victims of the ill-fated PIA flight that crashed in Havelian and claimed lives of 47 people on Thursday.
A funeral prayer in absentia was offered at Faisal Auditorium in Punjab University led by Prof Mehar Saeed. The participants prayed for the departed souls and prayed Almighty Allah to give courage to the families to bear this tragic loss.
Students, faculty members and employees of the university took part in the prayer ceremony.
Another prayer for the victims of the plane crash will be held on November 9 (Friday) at the Lahore Airport after Jumma prayers, in which employees of PIA will pray for their colleagues and passengers who lost their lives in the tragic incident.
Resolutions submitted
PTI MPA Sadia Suhail Rana submitted a condolence resolution in Punjab Assembly. She said the house offers condolence over the sad demise of Junaid Jamshed and 46 others. She added the death of Junaid Jamshed created a gap in religious circles.
Sadia said Junaid Jamshed rendered unforgettable services for Pakistan. She prayed for the victims, adding, “The Punjab Assembly members are with the families of the victims in this hard time.”
A condolence resolution was submitted before the Lahore High Court Bar Association demanding holding of general house meeting to express grief and condolence on the tragedy. Advocate Safdar Shaheen Pirzada submitted the resolution which would be carried on Friday (today) after convening the general house meeting of the bar.
In his condolence message, Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif expressed sorrow and grief over the plane crash and said the tragic incident had grieved the entire nation. The chief minister said he equally shared the grief of bereaved families and all his sympathies were with them. He also prayed Almighty Allah to rest the departed souls in eternal peace and grant courage and strength to the members of bereaved families to bear the irreparable loss.
