Earlier, the MQM-Pakistan had announced to hold the gathering at Jinnah Ground, located near the party’s sealed headquarters, and had also moved an application to District Central (DC) deputy commissioner for approval.

The application, however, remained pending as the DC forwarded it to Central SSP for security clearance and nothing was heard of it. It is believed that the permission was not given or the party withdrew the plea, keeping in view that the MQM-London also intended to get the same place.
It was feared that a clash or some untoward incident might take place when both factions of the party will come face to face.

The tension is brewing between the Farooq Sattar and Nadeem Nusrat led groups even since the party split after the August 23 incident.
