Famed Chitral school mourns teacher, alumni killed in PIA crash

Aircraft crashed soon after pilot gave distress call

A Langlands teacher and some alumni were among those killed in Wednesday's PIA crash.

Teacher Farhad Aziz and his daughter Tayyiba Aziz were among those killed in the aviation disaster.

Alumni Aisha Usman and  Usama Ahmad Warraich, the chairman of the school's executive committee, also lost their lives in the accident.

“It’s a very gloomy and dark day in the history of Chitral and particularly our school,” a statement released by the institution read.

PIA announces Rs0.5 million compensation for PK-661 crash victims

“May Allah bless their souls with eternal peace in jannatul firdous and give us strength to overcome this agony,” the school administration added.

The ill-fated PIA ATR-42 aircraft had disappeared after taking off from Chitral for Islamabad. Minutes after a distress call, the aircraft crashed near Abbotabad.

Noted singer-turned-evangelist Junaid Jamshed was among those killed in the accident.
