Shooting outside girls' college Mardan leaves one dead

One student lost her life and 19 others were injured Tuesday as a result of an attack in Girls College Mardan.

The third year students had arranged a party for the students of fourth year in Government Girls College Lond Khor in Sher Garh locality.

Armed men attacked the party throwing hand grenades and opening fire at the students. Twenty students and a bystander were injured. A student named Sahar Mardan later died of her injuries.

The other students have been taken to Lond Khor hospital and Mardan Medical Complex. Police have started a search for the attackers.


The college is situated in the congested area of Shergarh, which is also located on the main route from Peshawar to Swat.

It is not yet clear whether the college authorities had received any threats.

Maria | 13 years ago | Reply @Rohail: Shame on criminals who are anti state. This is what you should say. People who commit these crimes are anti state agents and cowards. The girls who go to school there bring Pakistan pride but the killers of these students only bring shame to their cause and the foreign agencies that pay them. Pakistanis have become united in opposing these criminals and terrorists who want to hurt innocent children and women.
