ISLAMABAD: Chairman of Hurriyet forum Mirwaiz Umar Farooq has said that people of Kashmir have been sacrificing and facing hardships in their struggle to secure their right to self-determination since 1947. Mirwaiz, who continues to be under house arrest, said that the sufferings and oppression faced by the people in pursuit of their political goal have drawn the attention of the world community. He said that after Iran, Turkey and other member states of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), Britain, too, had shown interest in playing a role in resolving the Kashmir dispute. He said to put an end to the suffering of more than 10 million people, resolution of the Kashmir dispute was the responsibility of the international community.
