Winter relief: Swat to have ‘wall of kindness’

SWAT: Inspired by the reports emanating from Iran and other cities across the country, philanthropists in the Swat Valley have also set up ‘Dewar-e-Mehrabani’, a wall with several hangers where people belonging to well-off families would leave their extra clothes to help the poor and the needy.

Dr Muhammad Hussain, a philanthropist who spearheaded the initiative, told The Express Tribune, “I got the idea from Iran and some other cities across Pakistan. I also found that this is the best way to help poor communities,” he said.

“The step got a tremendous response from all across the Swat valley, and I hope well-off people from other areas will also come up with this idea and raise a ‘wall of kindness’ in other parts of Swat.”

“This is a step of goodwill gesture and people should donate generously to help others,” said Ahmad Ali, a local dweller of Koza Bandai.
