Worth Rs735m: Six development schemes approved for AJK

The board of the Neelum-Jhelum Hydropower Project (NJHP) on Tuesday approved six development schemes worth Rs735.11 million.
The approved schemes include water supply projects.
During a meeting of NJHP’s board of directors presided by the WAPDA Chairman Lieutenant General Muzamil Hussain, Rs150 million were earmarked for watershed management, Rs86.62 million for the Komikot water supply scheme, Rs29.31 for Chatter Klass water supply scheme, Rs263.80 million for the Muzaffarabad water treatment plant, Rs65 million for automation of environmental monitoring system and Rs140 million for the construction of Chattar Klass park.

“The decision would pave the way for the construction of the 1,100-megawatt run-of-the-river Kohala Hydropower Project, which would be constructed by China at a cost of $2.4 billion,” Mir stated.
