RAWALPINDI: The body of a woman recovered from Ayub Park on Saturday was identified as Zakiya Bibi by the police. The woman had been strangled to death and the body seemed four-days-old.

The woman was strangled with the help of a head scarf, which was wrapped around her neck when the body was recovered. Civil Lines police shifted the body to District Headquarters Hospital for autopsy. The woman is stated to be in her early 30s.

Earlier a security guard of the park, Akhtar Abbas, spotted the body and informed the Civil Lines police about the incident.

“From her purse police found a United Arab Emirates driving license which was issued in the name of Omer Raheem. A letter addressed to the same person was also recovered,” said a police official. He added that the body was bruised on the legs and arms and there were clear marks on the neck. The police have filed a report and further investigations are underway.
