Muslim-owned Shish Restaurant is offering free three-course meals to the homeless and elderly throughout the day, from noon until 6pm. The homeless and elderly will be able to enjoy a free three-course meal, with a main entrée choice of chicken casserole, vegetarian casserole or chicken shish (grilled chicken served on skewers), along with soup or cacik (Turkish yoghurt) and a dessert of rice pudding.
"No one eats alone on Christmas Day…we are here to sit with you" Read a flyer advertising the restaurant’s offer.
The restaurant is asking local residents to spread the word of its offer, urging people to share its plan through social media. Tweeting their offer the restaurant said, "Help us to make sure no one is alone this Christmas."
