Militants confess to killing military personnel

The statements were recorded under Section 164 of the Code of Criminal Procedure

KARACHI: Two suspected militants have recorded confessional statements before judicial magistrates, admitting to killing four military personnel and as many as paramilitary Rangers soldiers in separate attacks in the city.

Ishaq alias Bobby and Asim alias Capri, both said to be hit squad members of the outlawed Lashkar-e-Jhangvi, admitted that they killed four military police personnel and four Rangers’ personnel between November 2015 and July 2016, city court officials said.

The militants were presented before the District West judicial magistrate by the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD), an official said.

Paramilitary soldiers, Qasim Ali, Shahadat Ali, Ashfaq Ali and Akhtar Ali, were killed when two assailants opened fire on their check post in Baldia’s Ittehad Town on November 20 last year.

Meanwhile, they were also taken to courts of two District South judicial magistrates in the military personnel killing case. They confessed to killing the four soldiers in two separate incidents in the Saddar area.

Two military police personnel shot dead in Karachi

Lance Naik Abdul Razzaq and sepoy Khadim Hussain were shot dead near Tibet Centre on MA Jinnah Road in December 1 last year, while Havaldar Arshad Mehmood and Lance Naik Rashid Mehmood were killed near Parking Plaza in July this year.

The statements were recorded under Section 164 of the Code of Criminal Procedure.

Officials of the Counter Terrorism Department said that its officers had arrested the suspects on November 7 in a raid in Liaquatabad.
