Arms recovered Afghan robbers’ gang busted

Police said the first five were Afghan nationals and all seven operated as a gang

ISLAMABAD: Police on Monday said they had arrested seven suspected robbers including five Afghan nationals.

The suspects were identified as Said Wali alias Mama, Nur alias Zafar, Jehanzeb Khan alias Khaista Khan Deewana, Sher Khan, Hamid Khan, Irfan and Sab Khan.

Police said the first five were Afghan nationals and all seven operated as a gang.

They were involved in various robbery and burglary incidents in the capital, police said.

The Special Investigation Unit (SIU), which busted the gang, also recovered a Kalashnikov, two 30-bore pistols, a rented Toyota Corolla, and a motorbike from the suspects.

During the preliminary investigation, the suspects confessed to committing dacoities in various areas of sectors G-6, Media Town, National Police Foundation, Bahria Enclave, Naval Anchorage and taking away Rs 800,000 after breaking windows of a car in
Sector F-7/1.

SSP Islamabad Sajid Kiani has appreciated this overall performance of SIU team and announced cash prizes and commendation certificates for members of police team.
