CPEC: Minister invites ICCI to partner up

CPEC would be more beneficial to Pakistan than to China as it would start a new era of energy and infrastructure

ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Planning, Development and Reforms Ahsan Iqbal on Monday called upon Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI) to partner with government in implementation of the China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) projects. Iqbal said ICCI should set up a cell on CPEC to identify opportunities of joint ventures for private sector in CPEC. The minister said ICCI should also form a think tank to help the government in making future development plans. He said CPEC would be more beneficial to Pakistan than to China as it would start a new era of energy and infrastructure development projects in the country.

Amanullah Khan | 8 years ago | Reply Advice of CPEC Minister to FPCCI for forming a cell(s) at its level seems reasonable but more hard work is needed in his own Ministry. Planning Commission as a Think Tank remained the most important and effective institution of Pakistan. Highly educated HR in multi discipline is available under his own supervision. Instead of advising other bodies he himself should initiate the work on CPEC from his own house by mobilizing the available resources. A regular body consisting of professionals from all other provinces and special areas assisted by the Planning Commission experts can be established to devise the plan, strategies and policies for different sectors of the economy. All MOU's, draft agreements must be examined by this apex body to get and maintain the transparency in the CPEC.
