To escape poverty: Woman commits suicide

MULTAN: A 50-year-old woman committed suicide by jumping into Lower Bari Doab in Kacha Khu, Khanewal on Monday. Police said she was a widow and mother of 10 children. The woman was a resident of Chak 9, Doarath in Kacha Khu and was depressed because of financial problems. While Talking to The Express Tribune, the woman’s neighbour Salma said her husband Mohammad Aslam passed away four years ago and she was quite ill for the last three years. “She had a property dispute with her in-laws as they were not giving share to her children,” Salma said. She added the victim used to sew clothes to make both ends meet. A year ago, she suffered from a cardiac arrest and was extremely ill. Salma maintained she was disheartened as she was unable to feed her children.
