Quaid-e-Azam Trophy Super Eight: Kamran, Imran sizzle with sparkling centuries

Make 131, 128 for WAPDA, HBL respectively to put teams in strong position

KARACHI: Experienced batsmen Kamran Akmal and Imran Farhat blasted centuries to lift their respective teams in the final round of the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy Super Eight yesterday.

WAPDA’s Kamran, who is the leading scorer in the tournament, made SSGC rue their decision to field first by smashing an unbeaten 131, including six boundaries, to guide his team to 226-5 at stumps on the opening day at the Arbab Niaz Stadium in Hyderabad.

Adnan Raees also looked impressive with his contribution of 57.

At the NBP Stadium in Karachi, discarded opening batsman Imran Farhat proved he is not a spent force yet when he scored an unbeaten 128 runs for HBL against UBL.



At stumps, HBL were comfortably placed at 280-3 owing to the southpaw’s gutsy knock which included 14 boundaries.

Apart from Farhat, Imamul Haq also scored a century, making 129 runs with the help of 13 boundaries. Mir Hamza, meanwhile, took a brace of wickets for UBL.

Another century was scored on the opening day of the final round when Usman Arshad rescued KRL against NBP with a defiant 121-run innings, aided by a dozen boundaries at the UBL Sports Complex in Karachi.



Despite Arshad’s century, NBP managed to bowl out KRL for 244 with Atif Jabbar claiming a five-wicket haul after conceding 43 runs. Muhammad Irfan also showed his form by grabbing three wickets for 27 runs.

The bankers were on 16 without loss at stumps.
