Losing weight in modern times has become one of the biggest struggles for many. Different strategies, techniques and diet plans are available to help shed those stubborn extra pounds around your waistline.

As new exercises and techniques pop up, yet another strategy has been unveiled.

According to a research titled Early Time-Restricted feeding (eTRF), having your last meal by 2pm in and not eating again until 8am the next morning reduces hunger swings and improves the body’s capacity to burn fat and carbohydrates.

The research was conducted by Dr Peterson and colleagues, and was presented at the The Obesity Society Annual meeting in New Orleans, Louisiana.

The study involved 11 obese men and women, who were asked to eat between the time frame of 8am and 2pm for four days and between 8am and 8pm (average American diet) for another four days. The participants were asked to complete testing while they were under supervision throughout the study. This research proved that meal timings is linked to our metabolism and eating in alignment with your circadian clock can be healthy.

However, large scale researches need to be conducted in this regard to develop credibility for this study as skipping dinner can also disturb our body function, dropping our sugar level and straining us in the process.

Since every person has a different lifestyle and diet it is best to consult a dietitian to find out the strategy that best suits you. A dietitian will guide you based on your activities and nutrient needs.
