ISLAMABAD: Two more suspected car lifters have been apprehended from the capital and a stolen vehicle was recovered from them, police said on Tuesday. The suspects, Asif Ali and Wahid Gul, were traced and arrested by the Special Investigation Unit of the police.  The arrests come a day after police said they had arrested a wanted car thief and recovered two stolen cars from his possession on Monday. Police said that Ali was part of a three-member gang and that he was responsible for tampering the stolen vehicles provided by car lifters in their gang, Nasir Maseeh and Basharat Maseeh. The other two members of the gang have already been booked for lifting cars. The SIU team said they had recovered a total of six stolen vehicles from the suspects. Officials added that the gang used to steal cars, tamper their numbers, and then sell them to unsuspecting customers for the full price while claiming that the tampered vehicle were genuine.  Police added that Ali had been named in at least four fraud and forgery cases registered against him by the Sabzi Mandi police during 2016.
