Defeat Sri Lanka Women by eight wickets; face India Women in next match

A half-century by Javeria Khan led Pakistan Women to an eight-wicket win over Sri Lanka Women in the fourth match of the Women's T20 Asia Cup at the Asian Institute of Technology Ground in Bangkok yesterday.

Electing to bat first, Sri Lanka Women were restricted to 112-8 as Nahida Khan took two wickets for 17 runs, while skipper Bismah Maroof, Anam Amin and Sana Mir claimed a wicket apiece.

For Sri Lanka, Chamari Atapattu Jayangani (31), Dilani Manodara Surangika (24) and Parasadini Weerakkody (21) were the only players to reach double figures.

First win in 12 matches: Pakistan Women end winless run

Chasing 113, Pakistan Women reached the target in 18.2 overs with eight wickets to spare as Javeria scored 56 off 51 balls to build a 49-run partnership with Nain Abidi, who scored 28 runs off 24 balls, while skipper Bismah was able to contribute with 17 off 21 balls.


"We are pretty focused on the game and glad that we are winning," said Bismah after her team recorded their second win in the tournament from as many matches. "We have a good batting line-up but we lost the openers early today and will have to make some changes for the next match as it is not easy to face India."

5-0 series defeat: Pakistan Women clean-swept by New Zealand

Player of the match Javeria said that the first two matches were helpful for them to familiarise with the pitch and the weather conditions.

Meanwhile in the other match, India Women defeated Thailand Women by nine wickets.
