Gen Raheel Sharif: A life in pictures

General Raheel Sharif is set to retire today, bringing an end to his successful three-year tenure as the 15th Chief of Army Staff of the Pakistan Army.

During his tenure as military chief, the country boldly confronted both internal and external challenges in coordination with all state institutions. General Raheel launched Zarb-e-Azb in North Waziristan in 2014, following a militant attack on Karachi Airport.

Under his tenure, the law and order situation in Karachi also saw an improvement, while special military units to ensure security of all those involved in China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) were put into place.
