“Don’t let them [the MQM-Pakistan’s elected legislators and local bodies representatives] have a honeymoon period in the next one-and-a-half year till the [general] elections,” said Kamal, while addressing his party’s workers convention on Friday.
“You [PSP supporters] ought to play the role of NAB [the National Accountability Bureau] till the next elections. Never misbehave but question them [the elected representatives of the MQM-P] even when you see them wearing a new shirt.”
Emboldened by the participation of thousands of supporters at the convention, Kamal announced holding the party’s first public meeting in Hyderabad on December 23 at the Pucca Qila ground.
The PSP leader alleged that the MQM-P’s representatives -- mainly in local bodies -- will get millions of rupees in public funds for development expenditures. He advised PSP workers to check how much of the allocated and released budgets are utilised.
“You need to check if a representative is giving any construction contract to his own company through his brother or a front-man.”
The PSP leader told his party’s fledgling rank and file to begin campaigning for the next general elections to be held in 2018 by opening election offices, observing potential candidates for party tickets and familiarising themselves with the problems of the community.
“The [PSP] election campaign should begin at the end of 2016,” said Kamal.
He repeatedly emphasised that PSP workers should avoid violence or misconduct and convince people about their political convictions with good conduct and objective reasoning.
