Chitral Hydel Power Station: Govt approves capacity upgrade 

The project, commissioned in 1975, supplied power to Chitral city via a 11KV transmission line

ISLAMABAD: The government has approved a project worth Rs2.2 billion to enhance the capacity of Chitral Hydel Power Station from 1MW to 5MW. The capacity enhancement project was approved by the Central Development Working Party (CDWP) in its recently held meeting, revealed officials in the Ministry of Planning, Development and Reform. The PC-I of the project had been submitted to the Ministry of Water and Power after the power demand in Chitral area increased. The concept paper of the project was forwarded to the Ministry of Planning, Development and Reform on November 11, 2014 for approval. The project, commissioned in 1975, supplied power to Chitral city via a 11KV transmission line. It was estimated that the power could be enhanced up to 5MW. Wapda conducted preliminary studies for the proposed upgrade.
