QUETTA: The Municipal Councillors Alliance in Quetta on Tuesday demanded resignation from Quetta Mayor Dr Kaleemullah Kakar and Deputy Mayor Muhammad Yunus Lehri.

Opposition leader in Metropolitan Corporation Quetta, Rahim Kakar and President Councillors Alliance Aslam Rind announced to commence a movement against the mayor and deputy mayor unless they resign from their posts.

“The incumbent mayor and his deputy have broken all records of corruption through illegal appointments and allotments,” they claimed. Addressing a joint news conference at the Quetta Press Club, accompanied by dozens of elected councillors, they said that a new mayor has been chosen and his name will be announced soon.

They claimed that they have the support of 48 elected councillors out of the total 82.
