RAWALPINDI: Prison authorities at the Adiala Jail have installed heavy jammers to block cellular signals to curb the use of cell phones, laptops and other such devices by prisoners.

The jammers can block and even corrupt the SIM cards in cellular devices, officials said. “Prisoners, including leaders of some terrorist outfits are using cellular services to stay in touch with their networks,” a prison official said.

Prison authorities had seized over 150 cellular devices during a recent search of the cells, sources said.
